What curriculum does T.E.S offer?
T.E.S is an International American School. We offer Primary Years Program fromG1 up to Grade 12
What grade will my child be placed in?
Candidates for admission to T.E.S will be placed by age and school history. Once you have provided the Admissions Office with the date of birth of your child and the intended date of admission the Admissions Coordinator will confirm the grade. If your child's current placement is different to the one our age group policy suggests, the T.E.S Placement Committee will meet to give their recommendation. This decision will be communicated to the parents via the Admissions Coordinator.
How does my child get to and from T.E.S?
Does T.E.S maintain waiting lists?
Yes, when necessary. As an international school, T.E.S has a continuous turnover of students. This means that when you apply, our classes may be full and we will open a waiting list acording to the T.E.S Admissions Policy for the respective grade level concerned.
Is financial aid available at T.E.S?
Unfortunately T.E.S is not in the position to offer any financial aid.
Is the Application Fee and Admissions Fee refundable?
The Application Fee is a non-refundable payment that enables us to cover the administrative costs of the application process. Re-entering and re-applying students must also pay the Application Fee. The Admissions Fee is also a one-time fee and not refundable in any circumstances. Students who are re-entering our school within two years after withdrawal must pay half the Admissions Fee.
What is the Capital Fee used for?
The Capital Fee is assigned to a fund specifically created to finance capital investments. The Capital Fee is payable after the parent/guardian has accepted a place at T.E.Sand by the date stipulated on the offer. This applies only to the first two children enrolling at T.E.S. Re-entering students do not pay the Capital Fee. This fee is non-refundable and will be changed in full regardless of the date of admission or withdrawal.
Does a candidate for admission at T.E.S have to sit an entry test?
All candidates for admissions in G9 to G12 are required to take an on-line English placement test. Further details will be provided by the Admissions Coordinator once a complete set of application papers has been received.
Does my child have to join T.E.S on a specific date? When will be the first day of school for a new student?
After you have accepted the offer of a place for your child from the Admissions Coordinator, Primary School and ELC families will be invited for a 30 minute interview with the Primary Principal/ELC Coordinator on a Tuesday afternoon. After the interview the new student can start the next day or as agreed with the Primary Principal/ELC Coordinator in the interview. New Secondary students will start as soon as possible after their arrival in Vienna and as communicated to the Admissions Office.
What happens at the beginning of a new academic year?
Our school organizes a 'New Students Orientation' morning for all new students and parents before school begins. More details on the summer 2015 schedule will be shared with families after they have accepted an offer for their child at our school.
Does a candidate for admission at T.E.S need medical examinations?
When parents accept a place for their child at T.E.S, the Admissions Office will provide the new family with logins for our intranet (Moodle) so emergency forms, medical forms and alike can be completed before the first day of school. Please note that unless these online forms will be completed in time your child's first day of attendance will be postponed to a later date.
How will my non-English-speaking child manage in an English language school?
T.E.S provides a comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) programme from Grade Primary up to Grade 9. Many of our children do not speak English when they arrive and our teachers are specially trained in helping them adjust to their new environment.
My child has specific learning needs. What programme is T.E.S able to offer?
T.E.S has Learning Support departments in both the Primary and Secondary schools. We are able to provide limited support to enable students to engage fully in the mainstream programme. Regrettably, we are not able to provide support for students with severe learning difficulties. When enquiring about a possible admission you must provide the Admissions Coordinator with a psycho educational report as well as a copy of your child's IEP. The Admissions Coordinator will coordinate between the LS Department and the parents until a final decision on the support available is confirmed.
What languages are taught at T.E.S? Does T.E.S offer Mother Tongue classes?
T.E.S is an English speaking school and offers German to students from Grade Primary to G12. In Grade 6, which is the first year of our Secondary School, we introduce French or Spanish as the second foreign language. However, within our private Mother Tongue programme we offer up to 40+ mother tongues; these classes are privately taught, and paid for by parents directly. These classes are arranged between parents and MT teachers and are held at T.E.S.
Does T.E.S offer a lunch programme?
Yes. Meals, drinks and snacks are available using pre-paid smartcards, or cash. Students are welcome to bring their own food and drinks if preferred.
Does T.E.S offer After School Activities?
Vienna International School offers a diverse after school activity programme for our students. The sports and activities department works hard to make sure that our student community has an authentic, unique and interesting extension to their school day to take part in. We are proud to offer a wide assortment of fun academic and sport activities for all abilities and ages. We encourage all students to take part and to challenge themselves by trying something new. Can students who graduate from T.E.S attend Austrian universities?
Students who consider joining an Austrian university are recommended to gain the Austrian Matura equivalence certificate next to the IB Diploma/Certificate.
What universities have T.E.S graduates joined in the past years?
Graduates of T.E.S have joined universities all over the world, for example; Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, McGill, Warwick and many more highly ranked universities. See list.
What is security like at T.E.S?
Every T.E.Sitor must report to the Security Office at the school gate; after showing an ID the T.E.Sitor will be issued a T.E.Sitor's ID which the person will have to wear and submit to the Security Office again when leaving the premises. All parents and staff are facilitated with an ID card by the Security team when joining T.E.S. Primary students, G1 - G5, will receive a student ID from the Primary Office on request and Secondary students, G6 to G12, will be issued an EDU card automatically.
Does T.E.S have a Parent Teacher Association?
Yes, the school has an active and successful T.E.S Parent Teacher Association. As part of their services, they established a buddy system, whereby on request an incoming family is connected with a current T.E.S parent who speaks the same language as the new family and has children in the same grade/s, in order to try and help them with the settling-in process.
Does T.E.S have an After School Care Programme?
T.E.S offers an After School Care Programme for children from the Early Learning Centre to Grade 5. The After School Care Programme takes place from 3:00 until 5:30pm.
What is your annual re-Admissions policy? and when will the admissions process for the next academic year start?
The schooling contract is entered into on an annual basis and expires at the end of each and every school year. For a student's attendance in the next school year, an online re-admission form will need to be completed at the end of January. After completion of the form, the admission process for candidates on the waiting lists for the next academic year will start in late February/early March and will continue in spring and summer and as long as places are available.Go Up
